This is our first time traveling through Vietnam without a camper. The trip was inspired by my dad, who came to visit and had always wanted to explore the country. I didn’t have a clear idea of what Vietnam would be like, and we were pleasantly surprised at every turn. You rarely get to see so many postcard-perfect views all at once!

Our first trip without the camper, but with Grandpa, is quite a change. Fixed flight schedules, no more ‘let’s see how long we stay.’
We’re traveling as ‘real’ tourists to the classic must-see spots. It feels completely different from our previous trips! While I sometimes struggle with that, Philip can enjoy it right away. He’s so happy not to have to drive anymore that just seeing him makes me realize we made the right decision.
Compared to Laos, Vietnam reminds us more of China: very tourist-friendly, busy, and modern. The roads are good, the tour buses top-notch, the guides extremely helpful, and the food absolutely delicious!
Our next flight takes us to Thailand, where we’ll meet my mom and celebrate my dad’s birthday together – but more on that soon.
